Climate charts to habitat «Alpine pasture partly overgrown with espalier bushes, 2200m» (Base: year)

Description

Climate charts allow direct climatic comparisons between two locations worldwide. The climate diagrams shown on this page have been adapted to Switzerland (temperature range from -50° to only -20° and precipitation from up to 700 mm per month to only 500 mm per month).
The monthly data from various MeteoSwiss measuring stations is used on this page to create the climate diagrams.

Legend:
  • Temperature
The line graph shows the monthly temperatures for the selected year for the selected measuring station.
  • Precipitation
The scaling of the Y-axis is divided into two ranges:
From 0 to 100 mm and from 100 to 500 mm. In the 100 to 500 mm range, the values are displayed compressed by a factor of 10 compared to the 0 to 100 mm range.
The line graph shows the monthly precipitation for the selected year for the selected measuring station.
  • Months
The values 1, 2, 3, etc. represent the months January, February, March, etc.

What do the climate charts show?

The climate diagrams show, among other things:
  • Arid or humid
In months when the temperature line runs above the precipitation line, the location has an arid climate (= dry climate). The greater the distance between the precipitation line and the precipitation line, the drier the climate at that location.
In months when the temperature line is below the precipitation line, the climate is humid. The greater the distance between the temperature line and the precipitation line, the more humid the climate is in that location.
  • Humid
In months when rainfall exceeds 100 mm per month, conditions are humid to very humid.
  • Temperature below 0°
If the temperature line is below 0°, the average temperature in the relevant months at the selected location is consistently in the frost range.

What is still missing from the climate diagrams

In the climate diagrams, the areas showing arid, humid and very humid climates should be coloured in.
